[edit] MediaWiki Extensions that Actually Have Merit
Although these extensions sound pretty nifty, using them relies on the MW community to keep them compatible with new MW releases. This does not always happen. Read the source pages and determine status before getting excited about possibly using anything here.
- ArticleComments
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ArticleComments
- Creates a comments form on wiki pages just like blog articles.
- Discussion Threading
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DiscussionThreading
- Makes the talk area work like a threaded discussion.
- Nuke
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Nuke
- Enables sysops to delete multiple pages at once.
- RenameUser
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Renameuser
- Allows user accounts to be renamed.
- Semantic MediaWiki
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Semantic_MediaWiki
- Allows structured data to be added to create relations between pages and their attribute values. This can enhance searching, organizing, browsing, evaluating, and share the wiki’s content.
- SimpleFeed
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SimpleFeed
- Outputs contents of an RSS feed. Very customizable; all editing done in wiki page. Uses the SimplePie PHP feed-parsing library.
- Tasks
- http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Tasks_Extension
- Provides ability to create tasks on any page. Tasks can be organized by various criteria. Tasks are stored in MySQL so the related
special:page is fast.
