Subscribing to and unsubscribing from a topic

From StcWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

If you are interested in a topic, but do not want to visit the Forum to check for responses, you can subscribe to the topic. Subscribing is useful if you have asked a question and are waiting for an answer or if you just want a convenient way to follow a discussion. When you're no longer interested in the topic, you can unsubscribe.

After subscribing to a topic, the Forum will send an email notification when a new reply is posted, whether or not you are currently logged in. The Forum will not send email notifications of your own replies to the topic. Also, the Forum will send only one notification per topic until you log in again (this prevents successive emails when you are on vacation or choose to be inactive in the Forum).

[edit] Subscribing to a topic

When creating or replying to a new topic, check the Subscribe to this topic box at the bottom left of the message area before you click Submit.

When viewing an existing topic, scroll to the the bottom left of the topic page and click Subscribe to this topic (even if the replies span more than one page, the link to subscribe appears on each page).

[edit] Canceling a topic subscription

After logging in, you can cancel a subscription:

  1. At the bottom left of the Forum home page, click Show your subscribed topics.
  2. From your list of subscribed topics, click a topic title.
  3. At the bottom left of the topic page, click Unsubscribe (the link will revert to Subscribe to this topic).

Note: You can also unsubscribe using the "Cancel subscription" link in your notification email. However, this link will only work when you are logged in to the Forum.
