I'm having trouble registering on the Forum. What do I do?
From StcWiki
Some STC members have had trouble registering on the Forum. Following are two possible causes and their solutions.
[edit] Your cookies are blocked or disallowed
Your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) must accept the Forum's cookie. The cookie is set by the domain .stcforum.org, and contains only an anonymous identifier. Please check your security settings to ensure the cookie isn't being silently blocked. For Windows users, note that XP Service Pack 2 automatically hardened many security-related preferences without much explanation. As a result, your prior cookie policy may have been changed.
[edit] The membership check has failed
An STC membership check is part of the Forum registration process. The check relies on a Web service provided by STC.org, which wasn't designed exactly for this purpose. While it seems to function properly in most cases, it can fail. If you have any difficulty registering for the Forum, please contact stcforum@stc.org to be registered manually. Please provide the following information:
- Your full name (as you'd like it to appear)
- Email address
- STC member number -- If you receive Intercom, you can find this number on the mailing label that comes with each issue. This number can also be found on the STC Membership card that was included with your New Member Welcome Packet or renewal confirmation.
