[edit] Overview

MediaWiki provides two syndication feeds by default for the special pages Newpages and Recentchanges ("special" because they are in the special: namespace of the wiki). Feed files for these two pages are all you should ever need to stay on top of wiki changes since there is also the Watch page feature you can use to get e-mail notifications when specific pages you have interest in are edited (see help:Using the Watch Feature to Get E-mail Notifications when a Page is Modified).

The syndication feed format is Atom, not RSS, but that's okay, Atom is a great standard (many consider it superior and that it will become the dominant standard in the future). The two feed links are:

  • Recent Changes: http://stc-on.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=atom
  • New Pages: http://stc-on.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Newpages&feed=atom

By default these feeds are not auto-detectable in the browser, but we have made them auto-detectable here at STC Wiki. Using the feeds via the auto-detection method is the easiest, but you can also copy the feed URLs above and add them manually to your browsers dynamic bookmarks if you like. The basic steps are described below for both situations.

[edit] Using the Wiki Feeds

The process in both cases is described with respect to using the Firefox web browser. If you already know about using feed files, you won't need to wait for the tutorials below.
