Help:Editing the Sidebar Links
From StcWiki
[edit] Overview
If you have "sysop" or "bureaucrat" status, you can edit the links in the sidebar navigation (except the links under the "toolbox" list, which are generated by the wiki automatically).
[edit] Process
The sidebar links are managed on a page in the mediawiki namespace.
- Go to mediawiki:sidebar page and get into edit mode.
- Edit the links as you desire.
- Save the changes.
- Log out and log in again to refresh you view to quickly reflect the changes. (Other users should not need to do this.)
The lists are simply two levels of bulleted lists created using wiki syntax (asterisks). The first level creates the list titles, and the second level are the items in each list. (Note: under the current monobook theme, capitalizations on list header items are automatically turned to lowercase.)
A given list item requires two pieces separated by a pipe (|). The first piece is the real name of the page, including any namespace it might be in, and the second piece is the label you want to appear in the list. Even if you wanted to use the same page title (which is typical) you still need to have both pieces.
The same is true for external links, the first piece is the URL of the destination link, the second piece is the label you want to appear in the list.
