[edit] Showing the last 15 topics
In the Active Topics banner below the STC Forum home page header, click Show the last 15 topics to see them listed. This works whether you are logged in or not. Click Hide Active Topics to collapse the list.
[edit] Looking at the sequence of the topics
Topics are listed in each forum by the date of the initial post or the date of the last reply, unless the author clicked Stick topic to put the topic at the top of the list.
[edit] Looking at the blue-bold boxes
When you are logged in you see a blue-bold box next to each topic that has been posted or replied to since the last time you visited, and next to each forum that has a new topic or a new reply. When you are not logged in, the boxes are all gray.
The blue-bold appearance lasts for 20 minutes, so if you are logged in for a longer time and navigate from one screen to another, some boxes that were blue will be gray when you move to a different screen. Boxes will turn blue if someone posts while you are logged in.
[edit] Looking at the new posts and marking them as read
Immediately to the right of the STC Forum home page header are two links that help you manage new posts and replies.
- Click Show new posts since your last visit to see a list of all the new topics and replies prior to your current login.
- Click Mark all topics as read to convert all the blue-bold boxes to gray.
This allows you to see new posts and replies that appear during your current session.
[edit] Showing recent posts and showing unanswered posts
At the bottom left of the Forum home page are two additional links to help manage new posts and replies. These work whether or not you are logged in.
- Click Show recent posts to display topics that are new or contain new replies posted within the last 24 hours.
- Click Show unanswered posts to list every topic that has never had a reply.
Often posts with no replies are announcements, but moderators and administrators use this link periodically to find posts asking for help or information that have not had a reply, and either respond or ask someone else to respond.
