Adding images

From StcWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

When adding images to forum posts, please keep in mind that the image must reside on an external server somewhere before it can be referenced in a topic. In other words, an image must exist on the Internet and not simply on your personal computer or local area network.

It is best to place images on your own external server or webspace to avoid the burden on STC resources; however, you can use the STC Wiki as an alternative. As the forum is an STC community area, you should not insert any links to sites or servers unless you are affiliated with them. Also, your posts must adhere to all copyright and reuse guidelines (see Forum Rules).

Note: Before you can upload an image to the wiki, you will need to have an account (see New Accounts).

To upload an image to the STC Wiki:

 1. Click Upload file on the left navigation pane of the wiki interface. This will redirect you to the Special:Upload utility.
 2. Click Browse to locate an image file on your computer or network.
 3. Once you have located the image, click Open to add the file to the upload utility.
 4. Rename the Destination filename to show that the image is used in the forum.
 5. Click Upload file to transfer the image to the STC Wiki server.

You can now add the image to a forum post by following the procedure below. To locate the URL of an image in the Wiki File Gallery, click the image from the gallery page and then click the image again so that your browser shows nothing but the image itself. You can then copy and paste the URL from your browser’s address bar

To add an image to a post:

 1. Insert this text: .
 2. Replace "URL to image file" with the address of the image (be sure to include the correct protocol).
