Adding email address links securely
From StcWiki
If you post your email address in a forum topic, you make it very easy for "spambots" to harvest your email addresses and pass it on to spammers. If you want non-members of the Forum to contact you via your post, you may choose to include your email address. However, please do not include the email address of another Forum member.
Here are some general guidelines for adding email addresses:
- Don't include email addresses in Forum messages unless it is absolutely necessary.
- If you must include contact information for another member, use the link for the member's Forum mail form. Refer to Finding other Forum members for instructions on finding the link.
- When you paste a link to a Forum mail form into a message, use the person's name as the link label. For example, here's the BBCode for inserting a link to Destry Wion's mail form:
[url=http://forum.stcforum.org/misc.php?email=3]Destry Wion[/url] - If you need to provide contact information for a non-member, point to the person's Web site and let Forum users find the contact information there.
