We are looking for experienced technical writers and/or copy editors to join our documentation team of technical writers and support our customers. The content of the work and the workload will vary depending on the project and the requirements of our customers.

Your tasks

  • Work autonomously and as part of a team on documentation projects
  • Perform internal quality assurance processes (language editing and copy editing)
  • Support internal and external translation and localization activities

Your profile

  • Native English-speaker
  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent German-language skills (written and spoken)
  • Proficient in using text-processing/authoring tools
  • Experience in technical documentation preferred
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work remotely if required
  • Translation skills and knowledge of translation software are a plus

User Experience Manager (Germany)

On behalf of one of our clients, one of the biggest Telco companies in Europe, Manning Global Group is looking for a User Experience (UE) Manager to start ASAP on a 3 months+ project, in a challenging international environment in Germany

The project involves conducting strategic design for future services; Build a deep understanding of insights to inform design solutions; Evaluate the performance of conceptual designs based on Group UE KPIs; Consolidate design insights in the best shape and form of communication, e.g. scenario builds, prototypes; Constantly try out, shape and improve strategic design methodologies and deliverables; Prepare and guide productisation of concepts until initial implementation, if and when applicable.

The ideal candidate has a University degree in a discipline relevant to user interface design and usability (eg, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Management, Product Design, etc) or minimum 5 years relevant industry experience; Deep user experience design skills (including interaction and information design as well as understanding of visual design), experience with mobile device design; Team management experience; Ability to understand scope, write project briefs and work effectively with external agencies and internal teams; Ability to self-manage and work independently.

Any experience in mobile telecoms (in particular terminal manufacturers and/or platform vendors) and related businesses would be a plus. Furthermore, cross cultural awareness is also a requirement.

Technical Writer (Munich, Germany)

BrainLAB, a manufacturer of surgical and radiotherapy guidance software is looking for a native English speaker or equivalent to write manuals for their software and hardware.

Experience with AdobeFramemaker software a plus.

What will you be doing?

As a Technical Writer you will be responsible for the creation of the complete accompanying manuals in English for our complex medical devices. As this position requires a complete comprehension of all technical and clinical aspects of our software and equipment, you will work closely together with the development division as well as with our clinical partners.

What do you need?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in technical documentation development
  • Native English speakers or equivalent
  • Proven language skills in one additional language, preferably German
  • Background knowledge in medical technology, or experience in developing training material (instructional design) would be of advantage

Technical Author/Editor (Italy)

Our client produces and sells technologically advanced solutions for applications in e-Manufacturing. They have an in-house technical publication team which produces mainly technical overviews, online helps, developer and reference guides (APIs). They have a strong team-oriented philosophy which extends to close cooperation with programmers, developers and technicians.
 
They are currently seeking an experienced Technical Author/Editor for a contract from March to September 2008, with possibilities for renewing. As a member of the Technical Publication team, your tasks will include:

  • Editing documentation at a highly technical level, including APIs and code samples in general.
  • Writing reference and developer guides (MS-Word and Adobe Acrobat) and on-line helps (RoboHelp)
  • Editing / proof-reading documents written by other technical writers (non-native) for adherence to language and style standards.
  • Developing the team’s editing processes and assisting with editing skills development of current team members.

  Your audience will be Systems Integrators and similar technically qualified readers. All material must be written with a view to localisation.

Your experience

You must be an EU citizen or hold a regular work permit for Italy. In addition we require:

  • Strong background in editing highly technical subject matter: understanding of code basics is essential; you must be able to discuss issues with programmers.
  • API knowledge.
  • Native English speaker.
  • At least three years experience in the field.

 Also desired

  • Experience with MS Development environment.
  • Familiarity with Object-Oriented programming concepts.
  • Knowledge of Industry Automation basics.
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Mapping.
  • Knowledge of Content Management and Single-Sourcing.
  • The ability to work according to objectives and manage deadlines.
  • A willingness to take initiative, work independently and help the team achieve and improve best-practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-work skills.
  • Knowledge of Italian a plus.
