Technical Author (Great Britain)

Our client is a leader in the field of Customer Interaction Optimization software.

They now seek a Technical Author to join their core technology team. Based in Henley-on-Thames, you will be responsible for developing and writing user-focused documentation for a wide variety of users. Working in a team of developers, you will be expected to gather information from subject-matter experts throughout the company.

This is very much a software company, and requires a team member with strong analytical skills who can write in a topic-based style. This plum job offers a great opportunity for career growth for a dynamic, confident and technical TA looking to work in a young software house.

You must have at least three years’ experience as a TA in a product development environment, preferably in technical areas of enterprise/financial/database. In addition, you must have:

  • excellent understanding of Microsoft Web Services Technology (.NET and SQL).
  • ability and inclination to write sample code in XML, HTML, .NET, and other scripting or tagged languages.
  • ability to manage complex documentation projects and meet tight deadlines
  • comprehensive knowledge of Word, Adobe Acrobat, HTMLHelp and graphics tools.

Also desired:

  •  DITA or single source XML experience would be very helpful.
  • Experience documenting any or all of the following: business processes, developing applications (software and/or web), software IDEs, databases, HTTP protocols, data structure optimization, data mining tools, web services, meta-data descriptions, SDKs and/or APIs.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems, Contact Centres, Database applications. Datamining/Analystics tools and techniques would be a definite plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-spirited player
