Technical Author: Microelectronics Company, Bristol, United Kingdom

This salaried technical author position is an excellent opportunity to fast-track your career in technical communications and leadership.

This position is in the Technical Documentation group of a major microelectronics company in Bristol, UK. In this position, you work with a team to design and write documentation from scratch using Framemaker, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and Microsoft Office applications. You work with design engineers and functional specifications to produce complex datasheets, programming manuals and application notes for a variety of system-on-chip, set-top box products. End users are a mix of internal and external customers who use these devices to design and program consumer products based on the division’s system-on-chip devices. 

In addition, you will proactively look at current team processes and recommend improvements to drive the team forward. You will also provide FrameMaker technical support to the design engineers. This position is ideal for a talented author who wants to move into a leadership role in his or her career.

Required skill and experience:

  1. Electronics or software engineering degree or experience
  2. Above average written English skills
  3. Experience writing a similar level of technical documentation
  4. Strong knowledge of: FrameMaker, PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro, MS Office products 

Additional skills and experience desired:

  1. System on Chip Knowledge especially sought
  2. Graphic Design training
  3. Technical illustration
  4. XML
  5. FrameMaker + SGML

Salary

Up to £34,000 per year. A relocation package is included.
