Technical Writer

For our office in Baden we are looking for
Technical writers for the rollout of operation, support & maintenance concepts
Main job activities and responsibilities
 1. Author technical documents for a unit of equipment including:
- an overall maintenance concept
- corrective and preventive maintenance manuals describing how to intervene on equipment in order to ensure reliable operation
- concepts for proper storage of maintenance and engineering documentation

The target audience of this documentation is support personnel (second and third line). The documents are to be written in good English and be highly detailed, so that they can be referenced and understood by IT professionals not directly familiar with that specific equipment.

2. Support the overall operation, support & maintenance rollout by

- conducting interviews with each equipment team in order to assess the current state of maintenance documentation
- familiarizing the teams with the overall concept
- providing timely and accurate feedback on materials written by non-documentation specialists (technical editing)
- assessing and maintaining up-do-date project tracking for the documentation effort
- advocating a single set of documentation standards throughout the department

This effort represents a multi-site rollout of maintenance documentation across groups of equipment delivering a range of IT services. Although much of your involvement entails documenting one or more units of equipment in parallel, much documentation will also be written by technical specialists of the equipment teams (operation & deployment specialists); this requires the feedback and guidance of a documentation professional. Your experience enables you to provide leadership in this area through technical editing and coordination activities.

Your education and work experience:
- at least five years’ technical writing and editing experience
- proficiency in written English
- experience in the ICT industry which enables him or her to understand basic IT concepts relating to hardware, software programming and configuration, networking, redundancy, etc.
- proficiency with MS Office applications, such as Word, Powerpoint, and Visio
- familiarity with industry standards such as ISO and ITIL, and software configuration standards such as RUP is a plus, but not required- experience in an international environment and working with technical texts of non-native English speakers
- detail oriented to ensure accuracy of critical information
- self-organized and fast learner to produce high-quality documents within a minimal time frame
- understanding of business processes and roles
- familiarity or experience with writing policy information
- willing to travel to Geneva for work on a limited basis
- basic knowledge of French and German (speaking and reading)
- university degree in the sciences or liberal arts
