American Translators Association

ATA is a membership organization devoted to disseminating information about translation and translators. ATA publishes a monthly magazine, The ATA Chronicle, and the online Translation Services Directory listing the services of members. There are divisions focusing on languages and areas including literature and translation services. Membership is open. The web site is www.atanet.org.

The annual ATA Conference, held in the third quarter, is attended by freelance translators, translation companies, translation managers from corporations, and others interested in the translation profession. The conference includes presentations each day by professionals on a variety of translation-related topics, plus many opportunities for networking. For more information or to register for the conference, please visit www.atanet.org.

The ATA has a Translation Company Division (TCD). The division provides opportunities for translation companies to share information on the latest technology, and discuss solutions to common problems. The group meets twice a year, at the ATA Conference and once earlier in the year. Originally posted in 2001, updated November 2002.
